FAQ
Business funding questions, answered plainly
Twenty questions owners ask before they enquire, grouped so you can jump to what matters.
Getting started
What does Capital At Call do?
We arrange business funding for Australian businesses: working capital, lines of credit and unsecured cash flow loans typically from $5k to $500k, and property-secured loans from $20k to $5m. We also help with ATO debt, equipment and invoice finance.
How do I start?
Send the 60-second enquiry. It asks what the money is for, how much you need, how long you have traded, your turnover, your credit history, your state and whether you own real estate. A real person reads it and calls you.
Will enquiring affect my credit file?
No. There is no credit check when you enquire. A credit check only happens later, if you decide to go ahead with a specific offer, and you will know before it happens.
Are my details sent to lots of lenders?
No. Your enquiry is not sprayed across a panel of lenders or sold on as a lead. The team that reads it is the team that works on it.
How quickly will someone call?
Usually the same business day. Enquiries sent at night or over a weekend are picked up when the team starts the next business day.
Amounts, security and terms
How much can my business borrow?
Unsecured funding and lines of credit are typically $5k to $500k, sized on turnover and bank statements. Property-secured business loans run from $20k to $5m against residential or commercial property.
Do property-secured loans need a valuation?
No. The property-secured business loans we arrange need no valuation. The property is assessed from its details and recent sales information instead.
Can I borrow against a property that already has a home loan?
Often, yes. A second mortgage or caveat can sit behind your existing home loan without refinancing it. A caveat can later be converted to a registered second mortgage.
Do I have to make regular repayments?
Unsecured loans and lines of credit usually have regular repayments. On property-secured loans, interest can be prepaid or added to the loan, so there may be nothing to pay during the term.
How long can I keep a property-secured loan?
The terms are flexible and you can keep the loan as long as you need it, which helps if a sale or refinance takes longer than planned. Still, go in with a clear plan for how it will be repaid.
Credit, tax debt and eligibility
Can I get funding with bad credit?
Often, yes. Defaults, late payments and other marks are considered case by case. Lenders weigh how the business trades now, what has changed and whether property security is available.
I owe the ATO. Can I still apply?
Yes. Tax debts are considered case by case, and some owners use funding to clear an ATO balance. Have your ATO statement handy and be upfront about it in the enquiry.
My business is new. Do I qualify?
Possibly. Unsecured lending usually needs several months of trading in the bank account. Newer businesses often do better with property security or a director with a strong track record.
Do you lend to sole traders and trusts?
Yes. Sole traders, partnerships, companies and trusts can all enquire. Trusts need the trust deed, and companies usually need director guarantees.
Can the money be used for personal expenses?
No. All funding is for business purposes only.
Costs and speed
Why don't you publish interest rates?
Every loan is priced on the business's own circumstances, so a headline rate would mislead more people than it helps. You see the full cost of a real offer, in writing, before you decide anything.
How should I compare the cost of two offers?
Compare the total amount repayable, all fees and any early payout terms. Our repayment calculator turns a quote's total cost into weekly and monthly figures and a cost per dollar borrowed.
How fast can funds arrive?
On a complete file, approval within the hour is possible, and funding within 24 hours can happen once documents are signed. Larger and more complex loans take longer, and you will be given a realistic timeframe.
How are bank statements shared?
Usually through a secure, read-only bank connection you approve yourself. It lets the assessor see transactions without being able to move money.
Can I call instead of filling in the form?
Yes, on (03) 8538 1446. The online enquiry is still the quickest start, because it puts your details in front of the right person straight away.
